Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers

A dental veneer is a thin shell made from porcelain. This shell is bonded to the front of your tooth in order to fix cosmetic issues. Some common cosmetic issues a dental veneer can fix include:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Worn-down teeth
  • Severe dental stains that do not respond to teeth whitening
  • Uneven, misshapen teeth
  • Slightly crooked teeth
  • Tooth sensitivity

What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are custom-made shells made from tooth-colored materials that are placed over your teeth. They’re used to change the overall appearance of your smile and cover up any cosmetic imperfections, such as cracked, chipped, or discolored teeth.

Veneers are typically made from porcelain, a material that closely resembles your natural teeth in both color and appearance. Porcelain is also extremely durable and will resist staining from things like coffee, tea, and wine.

If you don’t like the look of your smile but don’t have the time for extensive orthodontic work, consider getting a set of veneers. In just two visits, you can have a brand new smile! Since each set of veneers is customized to your personal situation, they’re a great option for many different people.

Are Veneers Right for Me?

For most people, veneers are a great treatment option for correcting cosmetic imperfections in just a few appointments and without a lot of hassle. Veneers are ideal for covering small chips or cracks as well as slight gaps between teeth. They also mask stains that can’t be removed with professional teeth whitening treatments.

Veneers are also low maintenance; most people only need to brush their teeth twice a day as usual and see the dentist for regular examinations and cleanings.

Can Everyone Get Dental Veneers?

As versatile as they are, not everyone is a candidate for veneers. If a tooth has suffered significant damage or decay or if the tooth is already worn down due to grinding, a restoration like a crown may be more appropriate. Our dentist can talk to you about your treatment options and help you determine which one is right for you.

Placing Dental Veneers

During your initial visit to our office, our dentist will take impressions of your teeth to send to the lab where your veneers will be made. This appointment generally lasts about an hour, and during this time, we will also take X-rays of your mouth that will help us better plan for your treatment.

Once we have received your restorations from the lab, you will return to our office to have them placed. Once your veneers are placed, you will be able to enjoy your new smile!
